When we choose friends, we often choose them on the basis of what they have to give us; people who are nice to be with, have a happy mood and similar interests. If they possess qualities we admire, like a beautiful singing voice or good skills in a field, a friendship is often created.
While some friendships span our childhood years to our golden years, others are short-term. Still, they can give us many gifts and be of value, even in the short time they last. Often we meet friends in a similar phase of life that we bond to out of a shared experience and to learn from each other. Sometimes we then separate and move on to other friends that we can progress further with. We are all in a developmental process and we need interactions with people that we can share our joys, thoughts and experiences with; friends that are enjoyable and inspiring to be with :-)
